The Commander's Levee
All District Squandron Commanders and bridge members welcome
Please RSVP to London Squadron XO by December 4, 2013
Have you ever chartered a boat? Was it everything you thought it would be? We are looking for members to share their experiences with us. What companies have you used? Was your experience everything you had hoped for? Was the advertising up to date or were they using photos from several years ago?
We would like to hear from people who have chartered sail, power, houseboats and/or canal boats. We would love to hear about your experiences chartering in the Great Lakes, Caribbean, US, England and European river systems and anywhere else you can imagine.
Preparations are of particular interest. What did you need to bring? What did bring that you didn't need? What did you bring that you didn't need?!
Think back to what you would have liked to know before you went on your first, second or twenty-third charter. That's what we would like to hear about. This event is tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 21, 2014 depending on availability of the wardroom and presenters.
Our members sail/motor out of several marinas mostly on Lake Erie or Lake Huron. We invite you to share your experience with your marina with our members. Each participant will be asked to prepare a 10 minute presentation about the marina they use. Where is it? What do you like about it? What is nearby? What other marinas are within comfortable boating distance? Are there any reciprocal arrangements? What are the special navigation considerations IE tell us about that big rock or sandbar you need to avoid or what about the tower up on the hill that makes a nice range when combined with the end of the breakwater?
This event is tentatively scheduled for April 11, 2014 depending on availability of the wardroom and presenters. If you are able to share your experience for either of these presentations, please contact Peter Hammond (click on the name to send an email). |
